Topic: The Anatomy of Reconciliation Passage: Genesis 44:1–34
Genesis 44:1-13
"Joseph's strategy already brilliantly successful in creating the situations and tensions required, now produces its master stroke.
Like the judgment of Solomon, the sudden threat to Benjamin was a thrust to the heart of his brothers. In a moment, the brothers stood revealed." Derek Kidner
Genesis 44:14-34
Reconciliation begins with humility
Reconciliation continues with the acknowledgment of sin against God
Reconciliation requires the grace to know that none of us deserve mercy
Reconciliation requires a change of heart
The Lord does NOT tempt us, but He does test us.
“Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, 3 for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness.” James 1:2-3
We will often be tested where we are most vulnerable
There can be not reconciliation without repentance
Jesus embraced suffering on behalf of us
