Topic: Government Passage: Romans 13:1–7
Romans 13:1-7
The Christian is to be subject to government leaders (13:1a, 5).
Recognize that our Government leaders have been instituted by God (13:1b-2, 4a).
Because God is sovereign over people in power, we need not fear.
This text instructs us to give to the government what they are due (13:6-7).
- The Scriptures tell us here and at various places that the government is due honor and taxes (1 Peter 2:17).
We are to pray for our government leaders
Pray for our leaders to exercise righteous justice (13:3-4), punishing evil and upholding good. Pray that their failure to do so would be exposed and eliminated.
1 Peter 2:13-14
1 Timothy 2:1-4
Pray for our government to steward tax money to serve and protect its people and to preserve righteousness (13:6-7).
1 Peter 2:15-16
Pray for God loving men and women to pursue government positions, that they may be salt and light in those arenas.
Pray for our children and grandchildren to take hold of Jesus and His Word.
Pray for His Kingdom to come!
Hebrews 11:8-10
