A Sacrament is an outward and visible spiritual sign and seal given by God to His people to represent His covenant of grace and to be means of His grace

The two Sacraments are: The Lord’s Supper and Baptism

Genesis 17:7-14

The sign of circumcision was a sign marking and identifying the covenant community

This outward physical sign of circumcision pointed to an inward spiritual need that could only be accomplished by the work of God in a person.

Deut 10:12-16

Deut. 30:6

Jeremiah 31:31-33

Ezekiel 36:25-27

There is a new and better sign that Jesus gave to us to fulfill the first

Matthew 28:18-20

Colossians 2:6-14

Acts 2:38-41

John 3:5-8

John 1:12-13

The promise is to you and your children

“The use of the concept of ‘household’ itself, bespeaks a deep continuity between Old and New Testament covenantal understanding of the family before God—with all that this entailed in faith and expectation.” Sinclair Ferguson

Galatians 3:26-29

Baptism is not meant to point to the faith of man but to the promise of God

We are to improve upon our baptism
