Romans 3:9-20

Mankind’s Condition Before God (vs. 9-12).

Mankind’s Description Before God (vs. 13-18).

Mankind’s Indictment Before God (vs. 19-20).

Mankind’s Condition Before God (vs. 9-12). “Under sin”

 None are righteous.

 There are none who understand.

 There are none who seek for God.

 All have turned aside from God.

 All are worthless.

 None are good.

The Description of Man Before God (vs. 13-18)

13 “Their throat is an open grave;

“The venom of asps is under their lips.”

14 “Their mouth is full of curses and bitterness.”

15 “Their feet are swift to shed blood;

16 in their paths are ruin and misery, 17 and the way of peace they have not known.”

18 “There is no fear of God before their eyes.”

If you, O Lord, kept a record of sins, O Lord, who could stand? But with You there is forgiveness; therefore you are feared. Psalm 111:10

The Indictment of Man Before God (vs. 19-20).

We are accountable to God.

We will not be justified in His sight by our works.

“All you need is need…If we come to God telling Him that we are good, offering Him the works of our hands as our righteousness, we cannot take the righteousness He gives by grace. We need to give up our goodness and repent of our religiosity as well as our rebellion. We need to come with empty hands, and silent mouths, and receive.” Tim Keller
