Christian-gospel joy is CONTINUAL

Christian-gospel joy is TRANSCENDENT

Christian-gospel joy really is POSSIBLE

1. Keep your conscience clear

Psalm 32:1-5

2. Experiencing gospel joy involves some discipline.

Jesus said, “I tell you these things that you may have peace (& joy).”

His (Jesus) deepest sorrow became the source of His greatest joy. ‘He was despised and forsaken of men, a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief.’ But Hebrews 12:2 describes Him as One ‘who for the joy set before Him endured the cross.’ The miracle of the Cross transformed sorrow into joy for Jesus’ disciples. It can work the same miracle in us.” Kent Hughes

The disciples experienced acute sorrow because of their loss…But then came the resurrection, and their sorrow was changed into joy. It was not that their sorrow was followed by joy, that joy came afterward but what was sorrow still remained. No, the sorrow itself was changed into joy so that what had been the cause of their sorrow before was now in equal measure joyous. James Boice
