1 Timothy 3:8-13
Why Christ wants deacons for His church.
What Christ wants in the qualifications of deacons in His church.
And the Blessing Christ desires for the deacons in His church.
“This new commandment I give to you, that you love one another as I have loved you. By this the world [all men] will know that you are My disciples, as you love one another.”
Well, it has a lot to do with deacons, because..
Christ wants deacons to be continual examples, reflections and leaders of what it looks like to tangibly and concretely love and serve one another.
Acts 6:2-4
This group of leaders would be an extension of the Apostles and elders as they were to be examples and leaders in mobilizing ministry of mercy and service among the congregation.
The word diákonos is a standard ancient Greek word meaning "servant", "waiting-man", "minister", or "messenger".
Christ wants His deacons to be godly men
Acts 6:3
1 Timothy 3:9
Christ wants men who know the Word. They hold to good theology.
Christ wants men who desire to serve Christ and the Church
Serving well as a deacon is promised great reward.

Jesus is the ultimate Deacon
